& energy put into this powerplant you will end up with an engine that will bring pleasure every time

Hopefully the block is salvageable. The cam and cam bearings aren't hateful but won't be reused. I believe a new rotating assembly is in order.

I've had thought of a 5.3 swap. But it's come to be that I need it done soonest. I've freshly done heads, a Mercruiser cam, and roller rockers. So stock for now.

Emory cloth the worst crank journal until it's clean and then mic it. If you don't have a micrometer, use a dial caliper. You just need an assessment if it's trash. From the pics, it doesn't look as bad as many that I've seen.

Are you and I looking at the same crank? Take another look at that #4 main.
