I definitely agree, it's about as delicious as a POS can get.
Not quite there on paint, eye spy alof of flaking/cracking/missing body filler, trying to source a junk parts truck(s) for body panels.... and hopefully some interior panels that match.... any one of the colors. We have red Grey and I think painted.... not including the door panels and anything that isn't original to the year.
Names... I usually have to drive them a while to see what their personality's are.

In the mean time,
It has a horribly draggy starter, and many gauges don't work, also the plug receptical for the ecm coolant temp was.... well missing ... among other things.
So, starting the slow process of cleaning up wiring, connectors and vacuum/vent lines.

So far, just some slightly better terminals and cables made/cleaned up.
Replaced the red ground cable with a black one.
Ecm temp sender and connector replaced
And one Rocker Cover breather and hose fixed.... old one was loose n floppy, had legitimately 4 pieces of different hose cobbled together ❤️ just beautiful.
Starter operates very well now
Check engine light off, would stay running with tps plugged in now.
Ran out of time after checking those functions.
It would have spouts of dumping too much gas before hand so hopefully that clears up now.... to be determined....and mo to come.

Coolant temp sensor in dr. Cylinder head. The wire with the female spade was inside the plastic wire loom going to the temp sender.
Temp sender is the single prong that takes the plug style.
Coolant temp gauge doesn't work being why I came across it.
Anyone know what it needs to do?

I may be wrong, but that might be a Ford style battery in your truck. I know the GM side terminal batteries have the positive cable on the engine side, and the negative cable is closer to the fender. Ford batteries have the positive cable on the fender side, so it's closer to the starter solenoid on the fender. Older Fords were easy to steal because if you could get the hood open, and use a metal tool (screwdriver, pair of pliers, pocket knife, etc.) to jump across the two smaller terminals, you could start the car or truck (not actually done it but know many who have, and told me the process).

Does the alternator work not being plugged in? I’m surprised that alternator even fits there, the po must’ve used some old square body style accessory mounts.

She’s definitely a puzzle. I love projects like that

The alternator does work as a 1 wire... Even though it isn't.
After looking at a wiring diagram, I assume that is what the extra wire in question was for.... the brown wire that went to original alternator.
Haven't been able to crawl under it much till today.

Shift linkage
Trans mount
Missing upper shock mount

I really think at this point, going back to 700r4 is the best way to fix no speedometer reading on this one.
Still plugging away at engine connectors and lines.
