14 bolt sf 9.5 Ring Gear Pattern After pinion seal replacement

I just replaced the pinion seal on a 14 bolt 9.5 sf but the pattern im getting dosent seem great espically the coast side. I didnt check the pattern when I torn it down. Side bearing adjuster back to where it was initially with all shims, 10in/lb of pinion preload, and 0.005- 0.006 backlash. Did I mess something up?

I'd get the service manual out and recheck. I'd say no, recheck your work and review the setup procedure in axle section.

What was the backlash BEFORE you started work on that axle? Whatever the backlash was, is what the backlash needs to be now.

But why are you playing with the shims and side-bearing adjuster when all you did was replace the pinion seal? Replacing the pinion seal doesn't require even taking the cover off.
