My acquaintance/installer replaces Rear Main Seal on EVERY motor swap.
An acquaintance (an independant mechanic-garage owner) has an installer agreement w/ adjacent junkyard. Those motor swaps form the bulk of his day to day work. He's done so many of em that he does em Fast and error-free. If the motor fails on startup, their agreement is that Yard pays him full cost to R&R another motor. That's rare but has happened. Once, I got a failed L31 because it had a lifter rattle; Yard took $100 for it (Yay) !
Customer (typically end user) contacts yard asking for motor. Yard asks if customer has an installer. Often, customer needs installer; and a deal is struck between Customer-Yard-Installer.
