Alright, after scouring the internet I've found some info. Some of it is conflicting.

GMT400:
10.5" FF WMS to WMS width = 67.5" (I've seen 65" as well)

GMT800:
10.5" FF WMS to WMS width = 68" (though I've seen 69")

I need to take my wheels off and measure the width of my 9.5" SF and figure out what direction to go. The 4wd guys can easily get away with this swap. For me it would require a totally different wheel setup I believe. I could probably run my stocks again and just trim the LCAs.

Didn’t miss much, haha. Typical ‘95 things. Works good, breaks, works good, fails, go to fix, more failures. Eventually it will be trouble free. I still know it’s cheaper than a new truck and I can thankfully do most of the work myself.

On another note, I’ve decided to just get a FF from a GMT400. It will be less headaches in the long run I figure and I can have it rebuilt over the winter. So if anyone has one in good condition, let me know.

I'm surprised to see yours is broken up like that when the rest of the truck doesn't appear to have been beat on; maybe someone's kid took it for some unauthorized burnouts?

I feel like replacing the carrier in yours would give more long-term enjoyment than a used FF from another truck - that is likely to come from a work truck that may have hard miles on it. And I am still wondering what you'd do about the center caps.. I'm having a hard time imagining the taller caps on those wheels.

I was and was not surprised. After seeing the many other issues over the course of this build, I get the feeling it was cared for but not as cared for as I would have done.

Remember, this truck has 168K on it but the engine was replaced at 125K according to the owners manual. They couldn’t bother to replace the worn out PS pump, the gear oil had to have been the original fill, and the carrier bearing was severely wore out. Very basic maintenance was performed.

I’m weighing my options. My ‘94 is a SF but I do have that lead on the FF with slip on drums. I’d like to have that for either truck.

Took this to Chicago yesterday and it did fine performance wise. Got spanked by an Elantra N… On the way home it was not fun to drive. Once again it felt like it had a mind of its own. I’ve got the center link and pitman arm ready to go but I am waiting for my rebuilt box to arrive. PS pump is definitely dying already because it’s whining a lot louder now. Fluid level is good.

Then today turning in my horseshoe drive I could feel and hear a clunk or loud tick from the rear end. I don’t need this thing to lock up while I’m out and about.

So before the end of the month I’ll have to swap in a rear end and get the front end re-done and aligned. Going to be busy. I’m expecting to work 12s through August/September and I’ve got two trucks to get done.

Awhile back we were having a convo in this thread about your rears not sticking out as much as the fronts. Maybe with some figuring you can get two birds stoned at once?

Work is stupid busy at the moment, but I have a FF out of a 97 laying out, and a FF still under a 2004 HD that I could probably measure pretty easy. If any of that might help you, just holler. Would pretty much give you either of them if you were closer, lol.
