Got my 5165s from Wheel every weekend and I’m impressed as always. Install was pretty easy although in the front I need to get better hardware to space each side of the top mount. That’s an easy fix for another day tho, I was sorta rushing to get these in for a beach trip tomorrow!

First impressions after a quick lap around my hood and a half mile of rutted out sandy road is….. very controlled, no nose diving under hard braking, no swaying side to side as if it had no sway bars, no bounce, and not overly firm either which is the only thing I was sorta worried about being digressively valved and having such limited travel up front. I even hit a paved section where the edge is almost like little ripple waves and creates a bad side chop in something with crap shocks. I could hardly feel it at all which is not what I expected.

I do plan to get the billet resi mounts for the rear or maybe play around with more weld on mounts and show the resi in the wheel openings more because Bling Bling. And I want to get proper spacers for the fronts top bolts but other than that I couldn’t be happier and I can’t wait to test them further.

Is "resi" short for reservoir? Looking at the pictures on Bilstein's website, I would have thought they would come with the bracket they show. Some newer GM trucks have an external reservoirs, so you might look at those for a parts-source/inspiration.

Yes Resi is short for reservoir.

They come with the rubber spacers and hose clamp mounts which work fine, they are just kinda ugly. They make a nicer bracket which I have on a different truck and I think they look better and are actually easier to install than two hose clamps trying to flip around.

That nicer looking bracket is what I saw on their website. That's kinda crappy that they show the nice ones, then send you rubber and giant hose clamps.

I agree however the nice brackets are $45 each, if they included them with every shock that would raise the cost of each shock by a decent bit. Plus, not all applications can use the billet bracket. For example the front of this truck doesn’t have enough space inside the UCA for both the shock and resi. So you’d be paying more for a bracket you can’t use and then buying weld on mounts on top of that. So I have to assume that’s why they don’t include them.

A hack I found for buying the brackets cheap, is to check Amazon every once in awhile and find “used but good” for $20 instead of full price. The four I have bought for my ranger like that have been flawless.
