What did you do transmission wise to handle that motor?
Thanks for the reply. @l31ma

4L85E with a custom built converter and Sonnax shift kit and a GM 10.5 FF 14-bolt with 3.73 gears. Its not the fastest thing in the world with nearly 7,000 lbs of van wrapped around it, but it does move out decently for what it is. It makes decent power up to 6,200 but I only shift it at 5,500 for longevity reasons.

Nice! sounds great too! My trans is already starting to slip from 2nd to 3rd Trying to decide if I want to build a 4l60 or put a 80 in it.

As a warning, I have had horrible luck with built 4l60Es.

When I supercharged and modded my l31 I put a Performabuilt "Heavy Hauler" 4l60e in, it blew up in 5k miles. I had a local shop rebuild it with their upgrades, it blew up in 2k miles. I had them rebuild it again and throw the kitchen sink at it, it blew up in 1k miles. Then I swapped in a stock 218k mile NV4500, no issues at all.

Your results might vary but I would NOT put a "built" 4l60e in anything with a big motor. Don't be like me and spend $8,000 on useless transmissions. 4l60Es are great for stock applications, not for anything else.

$$$$ but work great. Ran a 48# set on E85 for a while before swapping back to a marine intake. The stock truck intake manifold is the only option to get one of these engines through the visual emissions inspection. If they connect to the VCM/PCM most state emissions tests are scanning for aftermarket tuning though so that could end that.

My buddy got hit with his 0411 swapped 97 a few years back in Texas. I have forced my 97 VIN into the PCM before smog testing for years he did not. The state computer caught the VIN mismatch. He ended up talking with someone at the referee station and explained it had a junkyard PCM in it. Good to go after that.
