Yeah it’s a clean truck and you’ve had it forever! My younger boy liked it! Even wanted to climb up on the stepside which I let him as it wasn’t painted yet. Obviously if it was painted I would have asked you for permission.

Sounds like you have the wheels turning on the engine deal!! Go to the bank, pull $1500. Give $500 to your wife and then offer him $1000 cash in hand, and then have “beg” your wife for a few hundred as you negotiate. Works everytime lol
I could tell wee'man was definitely interested in the truck, you must be doing something right!
Gotta teach them young so they stay interested in "the scene ", and I think you have enough stuff to keep them occupied!!

Woman ain't getting another dime of my truck money!!!! She already took waaaaaaaay more than I was thinking she would after I sold the bike to pay for the truck stuff!
It would have been swapped and painted by now.
So shame on you for even suggesting that!!! LOL

My buddy is one STUBBORN Uke (Ukrainian) just like me. So it may be tough to get the LS out of his hands, but he didn't shoot me straight down. Maybe I'll sweeten the pot and swap him my 5.7 and essentially new 4L60 as part of the deal. He's got a few OBS's that could probably use it.

Ukrainian stubbornness is why Putin and his goons haven't been able to take over the motherland yet!

I didn’t mean to actually give the woman the $ just have her hold it for negotiations sake… although good luck getting it back if you don’t end up needing the full $500. Yes offer your 350 and trans to him as a part of the deal!

Yes and my other secret is living about 1” away from a divorce at all times lol!

A favourite story of mine was about 6.5 years ago, my eldest boy would have been 3. He called my 2002 Tahoe a “Jeep” because to him it was similar to a Jeep in shape. He loved that truck, did all sorts of work on it with me. Just cute as heck I will dig up photos.

Anyways the Tahoe was stock except a turbocharger on the 5.3, and man did it rip! But stock height.

So he told me “dad I want you to buy a Green Jeep with a lift kit! He would draw pics of the Jeep etc. so I went looking for a Yukon or Tahoe with a lift kit and found one in fort Mac! It was a 2000, SLT with a 10 or 12” lift, still independent suspension but jacked! It could fit larger but it had 38 TSL swampers! No muffler, 5.3, etc. anyways I bought it for $7000 as it needed sone front end work and paint. I towed it back to camp on my flat deck and then I would work on the body work and paint each day after work. By the end of my 10 days of work I had it painted olive drab green!

So I pull home and park the truck and trailer with jacked up 05 GMC pulling the Yukon. I offload the Yukon and wait for my wife and boys to come see all the racket “open headers” on the Yukon. Dried Mud chunks falling off all over the road and driveway. Of course the boys were extatic but wifey was not and she didn’t know about this ridiculous purchase! She exclaimed “You are going to have to LIVE in that “Jeep”. So Shane runs inside and packs a backpack and said “daddy I’m packed up to go live in the Jeep!!!” I almost cried. We did a few day trips with the Yukon, got it stuck and winched out. He was so happy!!

But then I sold it for $11,000 and bought a 383 stroker powered 89 Chevy stepside 2wd lowered for $3000 as someone had dropped a nut down the intake and it sat for a few years. Was a guy from work and he was desperate for $. Sold that for $10,000 and put it towards my $25,000 Buick emgine build lol! I also used to have a second house in Smoky lake that I rented out so I would stockpile vehicles out there lol!

Man. That was a long and informative read! That truck looks killer! I dig the stepside. My truck is ECSB no third door. Manufactured in September of 96 so I guess it’s a 96.5? Anyway. After chatting earlier and reading this I think I want to go 6.0 LS with a 4L80e.
Thanks, I try and entertain while on this journey that can be frustrating at times! Lol

Ya, that's the route I'm most likely going down as well, hopefully. It just makes sense in my case.
Ya a 383 would be sweet, but all the extra costs involved, just can't justify it financially.
The cost of machining is expensive, the parts themselves are expensive, at least 25% more up here than in the states. And it seems like the parts nowadays are "suspect" quality as compared to 20yrs ago.

And I'm my humble opinion, "hot rodding" is based on moving forward with engine swaps, newer technologies etc. Ya, the LS platform is now over 20yrs old, but it's decades newer than a small block. So that also is part of my thoughts process.

Thanks for reading! I'm sure that took a bit of time. It takes some swerves from time to time, but so does life and every project, just part of the journey.
