With the help of L31MaxExpress it is getting dialed in. Just want to give a shout out to this guy because he has helped me start to understand "what is what". Coming from an old school background of carbs, and HEI, this guy has took time out of his schedule to help me better understand the "why" and apply that to previous knowledge of old school. It is far easier than what I was making it to be. But still have tons to learn. HPT is a great platform with lots of info. Chris has helped me simplify things into terms I understand. I am just glad he has a similar set up in that hot rod van of his, so he is a WIZ on what to look for. Thank you again man. My 97 Sierra is still not perfect, but it is pulling like a rocket ship and maybe has a couple had pulls against some proven street cars/trucks (Fox body 5.0 and a tuned 5.9 Cummins) where the Stang couldn't pull away from me and the Dodge I was easily catching but got caught in traffic and wouldn't let me catch up. I love this community for keeping it real, and helping each other for the end goal. Happy 4th of July to everyone. Hope everyone has a blessed day and don't blow off any fingers!

I'm 79 and have bought most of the stuff to build a 400sbc stock pistons with a rering it is low mileage with afr195 heads and a mild 465/470 1110315-10 howards roller retrofit cam. I have bought a 2001 complete wiring harness and 411 but it is a cali truck express van with a 4l80 like my 91 3/4 ton 4.11 geared burb has. I have both 1.5 and 1.6 rockers to use. I am a retired ex ibm tech with a little basic programming from jr college but that was before some of you were born probably. It might be my age but reading and following along on this is a little daunting. I bought a edlebrock pro flo in case this is more than I can handle but still it will be the base intake system either way. The 4l80e is the question with the proflo by itself. I want to learn this but may be getting the biden shuffel before I can get to it. I am in waco so the climate and so on will be similer to max express or you so I am following along, I probably wont get the motor built till cooler weather so maybe some of this will take a set with me. The jargon is the tougher part right now. I do have a 2000 ramjet in a 86 k5 and it has been plenty enough to break 10 bolts with regular street use. It was conversted to mefi4 by az speed and marine before I installed it to get thge better fueling and closed loop. It will hit fuel cut at 5600 in high gear with 3.42s and 32 in tires, so good enough for me. It's a little intimidating to let off at 5600 with a lifted short k5 at wot in high gear. I'm hoping the 400 with a little bigger heads and cam with good tuning will still be a good package in a heavy truck, it actually rides a little better than the k5 on the road. Soooooo I'll be watching and hopefully learning, you know the story about old dogs.

There might have been a Mexican L31 based truck with your modification list that I have been working on some tuning for that made a little pull in Mexico. How ironic.

hello I have a 1972 GMC 4X4 and I put a 5.7 vortec in it with 4l60e transmission and sent the black box off and had it tuned and deleted the down stream o2s and the egr and the evap and a performance tune basically a 91 octane tune and it run good for a long time and the motor blew up so I built a new one and had flat top pistons and a mild cam upgrade and 1.6 roller rockers and the black box does not like it so I tried to find the person that tuned it before but can't and he has locked it so I put a 411 pcm and I already have a hp tuner and I thought that I would just tune it my self and that has not been going very good It doesn't Idle and it runs rich at an idle and runs lean raved up and I don't know what I have missed or did that makes it go into closed loop I was hoping that some one has done something similar and would let me use or see so I can compare it to what I have done all the help would be appreciated
