That truck is just super clean rain or no rain, never caught the front bumper guards till now, those really fit the truck!!!

Nice install on the wiring for the audio setup, takes me back to the days of doing all my friends systems when it was Kraco and what ever speakers they could find or afford at the Tandy store AKA Radio Shack!! Man those where the days!!! Just think, Kraco head unit, 4 6x9's and we where HOT S**T rolling through the school parking lot and didn't even know about an amp or a sub woofer!!!:p Man we would've really been KING S**T with a sub and amp thumping, but then again it would've knock off most of the bondo holding our cars and trucks together:eek::p!!

Love it here, another trip down memory lane for the WIN!!!

Thank you! I like the bumper guards, too. Going to lose the front license plate thing though. It's kinda warped.

Yeah, every time I do a stereo install, it takes me back to similar days in the 80's! :peace:

That's good.....only asked cuz it seems like every other week someone asks. Lol

And ya.....I miss the late night weekend thrashes in the late 90s early 2ks helping buddies install systems. Good times
And will be reliving that on my own rig pretty soon.
Both my older idiot kids paid shops to install their systems, forgetting that I have done many, and went to school for it. Oh well.

I wasn't going to work on the truck today, but I ended up doing it anyway. I had a training for my beer slinging side hack this morning at the stadium. I wanted to take the truck and didn't, because the wipers did some strange things when running and made a loud clunk when changing directions. There was a good change of rain today, about the time I was supposed to get done.

So, when I got home, and my better half was working, I decided I was going to see if I could fix this issue. Not sure if anyone noticed in previous photos, but the cowl panel was broken and the hinge covers were missing. Apparently they have been off the truck since it was painted. A few months ago, I scored a mint cowl panel and one of the missing hinge covers from the EZ Pull yard. I just had to clean them up. Here is a befoer picture of the broken section of my cowl panel:

Here is the offending area of the wiper issue. It seems as though whomever changed the wiper motor last didn't index the off position of the wipers to the off position of the motor. This caused the wipers to dip down below the edge of the windshield, then stop a few inches above where they are supposed to sit. The linkage arms pivot connections were really scrungy, dry, and had some corrosion in the copper straps.

I indexed the wiper position correctly first. Then took the pivot connections apart and cleaned the copper holder straps up with a fine wire wheel on the Dremel tool. This one wasn't too bad...

Then I put some waterproof silicone lube in them, reassembled the linkage, and tightened it down. Now the wipers work great and are much smoother and quieter.

While I had the cowl panel off, I replaced the washer hoses with new ones and made sure the squirters weren't clogged.

Cleaned up the new to me cowl panel and put it all together. Looks much better now! Here's some pictures:
