Has anyone tried or been successful in making a tablet or rPi control the heater and ac etc as well as display gauges etc for an 88-94 obs?

If so what is required?

Controlling the HVAC system with a Pi would actually be rather easy, it's just a case of coding reactive controls and feedbacks... Displaying gauges might take a bit more, but it IS possible considering there are scan tools out there that work well with the TBI ECMs. I'm not at all saying I can help with this as my coding skills are novice at best lol. But doable? For sure.

You could probably manage the HVAC with an Arduino instead of stepping all the way up to a Raspberry Pi.

I have a handful of Arduinos, but I haven't tried adapting them to run anything on our trucks yet. I'd love to use an RFID tag for a starter interrupt to prevent theft, but last time I looked it was either cheap tags with a 3" range or expensive tags with a 6' range, and nothing in between.

Are we talking about implementing the HVAC knobs and switches in a GUI or you do you want to set a temperature and have your algorithm figure out what to do to accomplish that?

I have nothing to add, I am just curious. :)

My mother-in-law, nephew and I were chatting the other evening, and my MIL was talking about her cochlear implant. I told her she's The Bionic Grandma.

We could train AI to know what settings you want and get rid of the interface completely.
It's called "auto air". You set it to the temperature you want and you leave it alone. My wife can't do that. Every time she gets in her car she cranks the controls full cold or full hot. I can't get her to understand that the car won't cool down or heat up any faster than it can, and the auto air is already working its fastest. I'm never buying her auto air again. Me? When I'm in an auto-air car I set it and forget it, but I've never owned one.
