I have to dump the $$ into this it’s finally come to the point. Not going the box box store route for a steering box

I’ve done the Solid U joint swap , ttx ball joints and tie rods, everything is new besides the trashed stock box .

My concerns bring what should I used a Borgeson standard rebuild or the 12:7:1

I am likely going to be 2wd 4” spindle lifted back again in the future or left stock height

I wanna know if anyone that ran the Non quick ratio Borgeson or standard ratio red head do the standards tighten up the steering by a larger amount than a stock new box say from oriellys or rock auto .
I want my 500+ $$ moneys worth, but I’d also like my steering to be as close to touchy as possible, but I don’t wanna get in any problems with the quick steer box. People say avoid with a lifted truck.

All I’m getting at is how much slop is taken up with these Borgeson boxes versus a rebuilt stock or a new stock box or a sloppy 25 yr old original

I love my quick ratio Borgeson. But it has started to get some slop and I'm right near the end of the warranty. Need to reach out to them. It's still miles better than my old worn out box even with the slight slop it has.. If I knew it would stay like this, I would leave well enough alone but I don't know. But it's been a sweet experience. Wish I had done it a decade ago....
But I did the Cunningham shaft and all new front suspension apart from lower ca bushings when I installed it so there's that...
but I know the box is getting sloppy and am pretty sure my suspension is tight...

Borgeson quick ratio on stock ride height here. This is how the truck should have driven from factory. 6000 miles so far and I'd never recommend a standard box.
Does it change it or make it too close to the equivalent of a rack

I’ve done new ttx ball joints tie rods spindle arms every thing the truck is so bad at this point with the swaying and slop over correcting the steering 24/7 is near deadly anymore.
So…With the proper front end alignment does the quick ratio Borgeson still give you modern day feel like rack and pinion would or how any newer trucks drive so to speak with the proper resistance and feel

That’s all I need to know before I blow 500$
I know the reman No name autozone Oreillys boxes almost guaranteed to be junk out of the box I’ve heard so many stories of guys replacing these two three in a row 88-98 boxes and they all still have slopp or Leak

When you say slight slop what does that entail or feel like ? You mean guaging the steering wheel visually the extra turning needed before you notice your vehicle swerving ? Just like the oem 30 yr old boxes are when they’re completely blew out

I would say you have brought up about the best comparison, the borgeson quick ratio made my truck steer and feel like a much newer truck. It isn't "sensitive" like a rack would be, it's just comfy to drive. On my truck I did gain a shorter turning radius, it seems the original box on the 94 trucks didn't turn as far.
I have nothing but positivity from my borgeson!

Trying to get enough info on this to know what to expect from Borgeson wether it’s their standard or quick ratio 12:7:1

I want it to steer and feel like a modern truck if that is closely obtainable with these boxes

I already have everything new ttx ball joints ttx tie rods solid Steering shaft swap new center drag link

I am constantly over steering so much that it’s become close to impossible to interstate drive over 60mph without tons of anxiety

Quick ratio: fewer turns lock to lock. Feels more responsive.
Standard: more turns lock to lock. Doesn’t feel unresponsive (unless worn out).

I’ve got the Borgeson.

Driving straight I can turn the steering wheel like an inch left/right without anything happening... I don't do that normally so, it's not like I even notice when turning...Just something I noticed that wasn't there before.... With goofy tires or suspension getting worn, I could see that little bit of slop wanting to have a mind of it's own down the road....

Not even close. It's literally like a new car feel. It's incredible tbh..totally feel guilty having it in this truck...lol. And I have a 3" body lift....
