Not sure where you're headed there. If you mean....

A.) Don't use screws at all.
You definitely need them to hold the cap on. It doesn't snap on or sit inside. It's just 2 flat mating surfaces and 5 screws.

B.) Use some other material type of screws.
Anything I can think of that's non galvanic would be Nylon, Delrin or some other plastic. Or ironically, Aluminum. All would be too weak to be functional.
Any other metal would be galvanic, but the least galvanic would be stainless, which is an improvement over the zinc plated steel that comes with the caps from A/R.
