97 CMP Offset - Distributor Installation

Pulled the distributor and it is not clear if it is original or aftermarket but marker use on the housing makes me think someone has been here before. The gear is worn some, not terrible but I have a gear from another distributor that looks better so I installed that one in the process of rotating it 180 degrees.

Put it back together and was able to get the CMP Offset locked in at +0.9 degrees. I little tough to get it right on 0 as it doesn't take much to move from +3 to -3 degrees.

Sorry for the multiple threads all related to the CMP offset problem.

Thanks to everyone that helped me through the process of finding a means to measure CMP and get it set within spec.

Thank you for passing that information along. Mine was at -29 degrees and it just bothered me. The truck ran ok except for the check engine light that was always on. In searching the forum, I found this post. Now my cmp is at .2 and check engine light is off. Again thank you for your knowledge and sharing it.
