Headers or iron manifolds?

Long tube headers 100% hands down it’s a big gain even at low rpm. I won’t do a project without long tubes unless it drying a turbo or two.

So can the larger L31 K2500/3500 OE exhaust pipes be used as a bolt-on retrofit for the L31 K1500 trucks?
Has anyone done this?

I put the larger downpipes on my '99 K1500 Suburban and then welded up my own exhaust with a generic high-flow cat and a two-in, two-out muffler. When I found the block cracked I sold the Suburban whole.

How I did the exhaust on the 1987 G20 van too. Walker 2.5" cats and a dual in/dual outlet muffler. Catalyst configuration matches the Vortec 350 engine in it.
