Explain to me like I'm 5. How easy is an LS swap?

Yes as much as I like the 99-06 trucks for towing my pick was a 2012 2500 Hd with L-96 6.0 and 6 speed auto. Much better. I did a mild cam, long tube headers and dual 3” with a professional tune and it’s a monster! Plus big brakes and HD suspension
I just recently swapped out the LC9 5.3 in my 2011 Burb for a L9H 6.2L and it LOVES to tow now. Especially if I can get E85 in it. Mild VVT cam and full intake/exhaust and it pulls our travel trailer through the cascades like it's nothing. I can pull a mountain pass at 65mph at about 1/2 throttle now where the 5.3 would be full throttle and slowing to 50mph or less on some of the hills. Cruises on flats on the freeway at ~2200RPM at 70MPH in 5th with the converter locked up. Unloaded it drops to ~2k RPM in 6th at 75mph and just purrs along.

I paid $1500 for the engine/trans/ECU and wiring harness all together and put ~2K into freshening it up and the new cam. I had already rebuilt the trans about 60k miles ago with some beefed up parts and a billet converter, so didn't need to touch any of that.

Yes the 6.2 is another jump up in performance and efficiency over the 6.0!
The 6.6L L8T is even more of a bump. If I were buying something newer to tow, would be an Express van or newer 2500 truck with a 6.6L and a 6L90E. Swap the 3.42s for 4.10s, tune it and let it eat. I would not overlook a GMT800 Suburban or the 01-02 van with an 8.1L and 4L85E either but I would want 4.10s in it. The Allison in the 2500HD trucks is a great transmission but power hungry and makes the 8.1L trucks a bit of a slug compared to the Suburban/Avalanche.
