These trucks aren't RVs.
They are still a ~5K lbs truck. My sister owns a 2014 LTZ crew cab 4wd. It always has been a gutless wonder. My uncle has a L86 6.2 and it is a HUGE upgrade over the L83 5.3L. Even though numbers on paper suggest the L83 is as strong as a LQ9, drive both trucks and you will realize the 6.0L is stronger in every way.

20 years ago the 6.0 vs 5.3 debate would have been 350 vs 327. Go for what fits your budget, they'll both move it along pretty good.

Build with matching components, and intended useage, that can include intake, cam, stall, gears.

He's got a RCSB. Mine is 4200 lbs with me in it, so actually half a ton under 5K.

Getting back closer to the 2 options ... I've got a stock 2015 Yukon and a stock 1996 2 door Tahoe, and the Yukon feels like it would destroy the 'hoe despite the extra size. Neither is very sporty though.

Years ago people would offset stroke a 350 crankshaft using small journal stuff and build a 365. The 5.3L vs 6.0L is like comparing a 327 to a 365 except is use a smaller bore and the same stroke. When it comes to low-speed torque the 5.3L is more like a 307.

Was just more talking to the OP, instead of trying to carry on.....but yeah lots of different combo's over the years. Another one is destroking a 400 with a 350 crank to 377, for the same reasons someone might choose a 5.3 over a 6.0. Buddy has a 283 I think it is with Ford 302 pistons.

Anyhow......these numbers between a 327 and 5.3 are just not even similar at all...... Its a good thing you chimed in on that one, they are just SOOOOO far off from each other.

The new 5.3L is a DOG plain and simple. Peak torque of only 383 ft/lbs @ 4,100 from a direct injected engine is terrible in 2014 much less 2024. The 2.7L 4 cylinder will destroy the 5.3L in every possible metric. I would expect much more especially in 2024. Hell I drove a 2012 Titan that made 388 wtq @ 2,980 rpm at the tires on a Mustang dyno with an Airaid MXP4 intake, magnaflow and a generic Hypertech tuner on it. That was an 8 year old engine design at the time as well and it kicked a 6.0L around in the power department much less a 5.3L.
