Walmart style crimp connectors are junk. The only way I will crimp is with these. It does come at a high cost though but very much worth it. They can even be used in wet applications like boat trailers and whatnot. The shrink boot really helps. The wire will break before the connection will.

I drank the Kingpin koolaid
Soldering isnt nesissary but i highly reccomend it if it will be permanent. To attach most of my wires, I strip about a cm off each end of the wires i want to attach, and twist them together with pliers and use electrical tape and cover up the exposed wire.
Thats how I did my LED driving lights, my wheel well lights, my RCX torsion drop lights, my subs, my amp.. It hasnt failed me yet, but then again if you can solder them, i reccomend it instead.
