I use the Volvo pump on my golf and we do not run a cooler. Have not had any issues, even in the hot as hell weekend last weekend at Thompson.
I highly recommend getting the steering controller with the knob from Brunosteering.com it will allow you to dial it back for racing and then turn it up for moving around the garage. Don't buy the GPS one, you don't want the ratio varying like that while racing. It's nice as I can adjust it a little as the tires wear and it can affect how the suspension feels. For example at NJMP this year as the tires wore in the car felt a bit oversteery, so I turned it down just a touch which cleared that up right away.
