    When I put the 94 454 and 4l80e in my daughters 74 chevy, I went out in the street and did a burn out. Gov bomb went off! She was all upset but I had another Gov bomb laying around so she wasn't down long.

    John said it perfect, alternators, motors, spark, can all create Radio Frequency (RF) and that can travel over any electrical or though the air. Sometimes you just need an RF choke.

    If your already learning how to read the data, do a 411 swap and learn to program too. All the resources are on here, just start searching the threads. Then you cant fix most of that yourself and not worry about your truck at the mechanics, sounds like you have paid a lot for crap work.

    Its almost always the neutral safety switch. Needs adjusted or its falling apart inside, but your said you jumped it so maybe your ignition switch? Doesn't sound right with the shifting you describe.

    Straight out of the 1998 manual - "G80: Rear Axle: Positraction". BUT, I think its just limited slip Manual also lists this for all Diff's this year - "Axle Lubricant (GM P/N 1052271) or SAE 80W-90 GL-5 Gear Lubricant."

    Try one more thing, pull your light bulbs out and see if you have voltage, if you do, even if a little, 90% chance of a corroded connection or wire.

    And ground the heck out of your truck, big grounds! 1/0 from battery to frame, 1/0 from battery to engine, 1/0 from frame to body, #6 or #4 from frame to bed. Steel is a terrible conductor for a really clean electrical system, so take the ground all the way back if its a sensitive component.

    To help when troubleshooting electrical, always do a three part test to make sure you have a connection to ground with the test equipment.     Yes, but... you need the right programmer. I bought the cheap Jet one and it would not talk to the black box, Jet told me that's typical for the 97. I did a 411 swap after that.
