383 stroker in a 97 k3500

hi looking to find out if the ecm can be programmed for tire size change in a 1997 k3500

I am in central Pa and the engine shop sent ECM to Arizona to be programmed to run the 383 stroker they built me. shop sent a printout of the dyno with ecm to programmer guy. but now program messed up my speedo and tach, 3mph at 25 and 8-9mph at 65. other issues now are ABS, shift points, brake boost, hvac clutch cut out, super rich idle, flat spot in acceleration around 60.. all in all the motor is strong and pulls great. plan is to collect data and send ecm back for better programing. Im learning so many things rely and run on tire size and rear gear ratio.
ive been reading about devices that can program the ecu for tire size, some for rear gear ratio also. the innova unit i bought will not, my mechanics snap on device will not either.
so my question is: can one program the ecm on a 1997 k3500 ext cab 8' box dually 4x4. or is that not an option and maybe program guy changed my rear end gearing for some reason.

Unfortunately an in person tune is the only real fix here. I’m no expert of this but I believe you will need to swap to a 0411 computer.

Jet Dynamic Spectrum Tuner (DST) is the only tuning software I'm aware of that is compatible with the '96-'97 black box PCMs, Part number 14005. I can confirm it works with both of my '97s. $400 on Summit, you will need a Windows laptop to run it. This software is very capable but has no built in datalogging like more modern solutions (HPTuners or EFILive for example).

If you swap to an 0411 or similar newer PCM, you'll be able to use more modern software like HPTuners or EFILive.

Thanks to all who replied.
My stock 350 gave out few years back. Asked machine speed shop to build me an amped up 350 like one i had specs for online for $4000.
Shop said let me build ya 383 stroker for same price built for towing. I replied i didn't know how to deal with the ECM. Shop said “I know a guy”. So shop takes 2.2 years (was quoted 2 months ) to build me, this 480#/ft 420hp kick butt motor that went from $4k to $6k in cost. I pulled my ECM and he mailed it to Arizona along with dyno and spec report for the program.
Then is sat at mechanics for 8 months waiting to go in truck. Switch mechanics 5wks ago truck swapped and running four weeks ago.
I put 2000 miles on it in 4wks getting 12.5mpg doing 75 highway at 2500rpm.
Idle floats, super rich burns eyes, abs codes, speedo and tach off 2-3 at low speed 8-9 at 65. Ac clutch kicking out at 2500rpm, brake boost blew leak.
Not sure how many directly related to programm.
I bought a innova 1000 scanner logger cuz i wanted data and innova said you could log and send data. You cannot. Logs nice in real time, small bluetooth, graphs or data even untrained me can see issues in program O2 duel trim,,, so as i read and learn more about all this, i track some things, go back to speed shop and talk somewhat intelligently about adjusting programm. Found out Arizona guy programmed my ECM to one he had for another truck “similiar” to mine shop also built motor for.
Long short of it. $400 for program being told once data and feedback given, a replacement ECM will be loaded and mailed.
If anyone is still reading,,,,
Should i ask for this 0411 PCM to be sent back.

If your already learning how to read the data, do a 411 swap and learn to program too. All the resources are on here, just start searching the threads. Then you cant fix most of that yourself and not worry about your truck at the mechanics, sounds like you have paid a lot for crap work.

Currently thinking the “similar” trucks program either had larger tires or different rear end gears. Got concerned with blowing up or damaging.
Took into mountains and ran thru gears 4high 4 low 2high 1,2,3,D.
Not sure i really know enough to program on my own yet anyway. I paid for a custom programm so will push to get it done again and tuned to my truck not a “similar”
That said, i will ask to get the 0411 module and agree i would enjoy having access to tweak as needed. Need new tires 18 months.
