Turn signals dead, emergency flashers goofy. Is it the multi function switch?

I replaced the fuses and the flasher, and the turn signals are working pretty much normally again. The hazards do not work. I can't depress the button on top of the column.
Here's the owners manual page on this item:
Super common for the hazard button to be broken on the 95-up multifunction switch. Seen plenty of them where people had broken the button itself trying to force the hazards to come on, then find they can no longer turn them off, so they jam whatever they can find in there to stop them.

Y'all know how I say I love this truck 99% of the time? Well, we are in the one percent bad. 97 C3500, crew cab, usually answers to "Rawhide"....
The turn signals have been wonky lately but today they don't flash at all. Hazard flashers don't work properly either.
So I'm thinking it's the multi function switch, because this is pretty much what Burb did when its went out. The garage I trust says they can do the R&R for $720, including the part, and if I get it into them first thing in the morning, they should be able to have it done in around 4 hours. Thoughts????
You probably have a tilt wheel. Move it up and down while you’re using the brake lights and the turn signals. Sometimes after the tilt wheel is moved up and down a lot over the years it will break a wire in that harness running to the multi function switch. All the lights you’re talking about have power going through that harness

Yes the truck has a tilt wheel/column. I replaced the fuses and flasher, and the turn signals work properly now. Tomorrow we'll be using the hazards(have to be parked in a loading zone for a few minutes) so I'll see if moving the column "unlocks" the button. It's currently stuck.
I'm sure the switch is worn out on that part, maybe other parts too. It is the original one after all....

Read most of your thread.....this might help,it's a video I made many years ago on how to remove the Hazard button without taking the steering column apart.Be sure you remove the clam shel before attempting and replace the clam shell before installing the new Hazard button. The button should be the last thing.

I've had issues with my hazards button not moving as well. I don't know what I did but it started working again shortly after.

Sir, great video sharing your repair tip. Info like this is why I don't consider the FSM to be the
end of the story, but instead just a great place to start. Your insight removes a whole lot of the
'R&R to FOM' (Remove & Reinstall to Facilitate Other Maintenance) out of the equation. Definitely
a better option than just following the FSM procedure if the failure allows this focused fix.

And from reading the comments under your video it seems like a lot of folks have put this tip to
good use. This is exactly the kind of content that originally made me want to join this forum.

So much talent & real-world experience in here.

Too bad this doesn’t fit. I guess the boneyard is the only option.
We'll try moving the tilt column around tomorrow and see if that makes a difference. Would be nice if they had that cartridge style switch on our trucks, but it appears to only fit the smaller ones (S10/Sonoma/trailblazer etc.).
So if it's bad, then ya gotta replace the whole shebang.....
