Did some work with a dremel on my 454 TBI unit. What do you think?

You can port these throttle bodies a decent amount. Stay away from the butterfly seat area and don't touch the butterflies, you'll create idle surges. I've even had a few sbc intakes and tb's milled out to 2" and installed new Holley butterflies. Don't forget to make the regulator adjustable. If you really get bored, make it port injection.

It looks like from the pic that there's a little clean up that could be done in the bores themselves, but yeah, stay away from the blade seating area...

Darn, why did someone have to go and mention anodizing?? I can do that in various colors, but never thought of it for my throttle body when I modified it!! Grrrr...

;~)

It’s a 1995 so an adjustable fpr is not possible as the injectors are already at their limit on the high pressure system.

Also I made sure to leave the butterfly diameter the same. I shaved a little height off the back to increase flow at partial throttle. Idle is fine

They are definitely not at their limit. I have run them easily at 45-50 psi. The internal regulator needs to be deleted and eliminated to prevent it from splitting and leaking to do that though. GM had a high pressure version of both the 46# and 61# injectors that have better coils in them that reliably open well past 50 psi.

I just bought 454 TBI or Marine TBI units myself.

For the 600$ that I would spend on new high pressure 61# injectors, I can get a chip burner, some long tubes, and a cam. I would probably switch to port injection before I spend that much on a TBI unit. I’m just trying to hot rod the stock motor. The internal regulator delete does look interesting

I wonder if I could tune the IAC to open at full throttle for more air flow. Currently it is unplugged and shut because I couldn’t get the truck to idle under 1k. I need a new one. Just gotta tune the idle with a screwdriver every month or so. I really don’t care if it runs lean or rich at idle.

Are there any dyno results on the net to backup the amount of hp added by porting the tbi unit? will adding air without fuel make a lot of difference?
I'm just curious? Your porting looks good,.

You have to make the regulator adjustable by drilling out the weld, taking it apart, and cutting a slot in the adjuster. Be careful taking the regulator apart, 4 bolt housing under spring pressure and the diaphragm tends to stick to the housing. Go slow and use a razor blade if needed, don't cut or rip it.
