What if you paid for the motor and unbolted it on the weekend so that on Mon. when the loader guy shows up all he has to do is pull it out. Do they have a place there where they can store it till the following weekend?

These are great questions.
I'm probably gonna call them in the next day or so and see if we can come to some sort of arrangement. They do have areas off limits to the general public. So ya never know. I'm not holding out hope though.
They are literally like 5 minutes away from work. And my boss probably wouldn't care if I took off for a bit at coffee time and was late coming back. We get two 30min breaks a day.

Update time.
Emailed the yard a few days ago, no response....shocked! Lol
Called today, only one option to talk to a live person and that's for selling them a vehicle.

Whatever....rolled out of work a few minutes early....shhhhh!! Lol

Went in and asked the girl if I can come Sunday, pay for everything, get everything ready to go, stand guard until closing time and come back first thing Monday morning.

Nope....kinda.

Can't pay for anything until it's pulled and at the office.
So, 7/8 assed plan is for me and buddy to roll in Sunday afternoon and get everything ready to go, stand guard until closing, I start work at 6:00 am Monday and then leave at 7:30 am for their 8:00 am opening.
Get it pulled, pay, loaded and head back to work.
Bossman is ok with this, and most importantly, I'm probably getting paid to do this!!!! Lol
Then drive the hour to my house and unload it and then drive the hour back.

He figures 2-3 hrs to get it ready to yank.
Sound reasonable to y'all??

Could you just wrap a tarp around it in the back of your truck to keep it safe while you’re at work the rest of the day? Or possibly bring it up to my house and store it there till after work? My hoist is there ready to use even if I’m working Leanne can open up the garage for you. It’s only 6 minutes from Bucks to my house.

I'm not worried about it at work. It's a security controlled and patrolled lot, and back in parking only. If someone wants it that bad....they are gonna have to work for it!!! Lol

And I can probably ask the guards to keep an eye out....if they understand what I'm saying....if you know what I'm saying!! Lol

And it's only a few hundred meters from my office, and I have to walk by it anyway to go check on a crew working. I just may have to make a few extra trips!!!

I actually have to stop by buds tomorrow on the way home and grab his hoist, as I don't have one.

So. Kinda a win lose day at the yard today.
The one engine I wanted disappeared, along with the entire vehicle. It had a LQ9.
Found the other one, LQ4, but buddy wanted to steer clear of it because it had EGR stuff. I don't know enough about it to debate him! Lol
So, we decided to abandon the motor search for the day.

But..... found a OBS there with a MINT door I need. So we stripped it down to it's shell. Grabbed the weather stripping from both doors as it was nearly mint as well, and definitely WAY better than what I have. Grabbed the two kick panels (stereo stuff) and the two vents and clips that go above the stereo. ALL for $33!!!!!
I damn near pissed myself when she gave me the price!!!!

There was another OBS that had the carpeted panels in it. One grey, one blue. But it had the newer round door switch setup, don't know enough if they are interchangeable. And the drivers side on had a bunch of screws holding it on. So I didn't bother yanking them.

So.....I get off early Friday. Buddy is could be there by 2:00 probably. So I may try and go back and start picking away at the one motor there, and see if I can get it done by Friday and in the back of my truck. See what happens.

But pretty damn happy I got what I got today. Especially for $33!!!!

Edit.... forgot why I would be going back!!! Lol
When I went to look at another OBS to pillage, I spotted another Denali. It has a LQ4, but no EGR stuff, so he went and looked at it while I guarded our haul and tools. He said that's one I want. So that's why I'll probably be heading back this week to pick away.

Plan was for tomorrow to start picking away on that motor if it's still there. And hopefully get it pulled Friday. And if not, come back Monday (long weekend here) and finish it up, come back Tuesday at opening time and get it out.
Just got a call that there is gender reveal party at my house I need to be at in the afternoon. So ya....plans halted for now.

Maybe the week after, I'll go Friday and scout what's there, come back Sunday and do what's needed, and Monday yank it.

See what happens......damn. if I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd have a crate motor delivered!!! Lol
