I have a '95 with the Camaro chime.
Key on engine off plays the slow chime.
Key off engine off with lights on is the fast chime - though it works intermittently.
key off engine off with the door open is the normal chime.

my preference is the previous interior style
Love my '92 and '94 interior so much more than my '95. I don't have the balls to interior swap.

Sounds like you may have rougher electrical than me… there’s nobody to take these older trucks to anymore either for when you just don’t know what else to try, like in my case.

I want to swap just the door panels of mine but it seems the older style doesn’t have reflectors or speakers in the doors which may not be worth the swap just for some nice, square, chrome door handles and door locks…

Not sure I follow you on the "rough" part.

The slow chime ONLY occurs if the seat belt is NOT engaged when you first turn the key on.

The switching for the Camaro seat belt differs from the GMT400 trucks. On GMT400s, seat belt not engaged, open circuit. Belt engaged, closed circuit. CAMAROS ARE THE OPPOSITE. Try engaging the seat belt before turning the key on and see if it chimes then.

Like @someotherguy , my only experience is with pre 95s, other than a 98 rclb i had 30 yrs ago in high school. But fwiw i have never heard of a gmt400 chime being acitive while key “on”. The only chime our trucks get is door open, (while key in ignition) , seatbelt, and lights on .
My 94 has a long chime with the key on. Doesn't chime any other time, except with headlights on & truck off.

Should also do it with key in ignition (in off/locked position) and door open.

Never has since I've owned it.
All of mine have, but it's "wiggly" on some. I can make it stop, sometimes, by adjusting the key fit in the tumbler. It's supposed to alert you in this position so that you don't leave the key in the truck as you're exiting.
