Wow....that's a heck of a deal for a heck of a truck!!!
Congratulations...... can't wait to see what happens along your journey.

And welcome from Alberta Canada.
Thank you! It’s by far my favorite truck I have ever had between a 2006 Silverado, 2017 Silverado, and my 2013 Suburban (no longer have the 06 or 17).

Yup I figured that grandpa hit something with Rawhide, to tweak the bumper and twist the brush guard a bit. Kinda gives the truck a snarl, makes it more intimidating to pull out in front of.... which people try to do a LOT in Houston. There can be nobody behind you for half a mile, but they gotta get in front of you....
I love seeing Texas plates here in Colorado, people drive wild as hell haha

Looks familiar on the inside; my 97 CCLB has the same interior. For what I use it for most of the time, a short bed would be better, but when I need to haul stuff, I can definitely use all eight feet. Mine is also a retired farm truck,, I've had it almost two years now and it still has under 139,000 miles on it. That includes three trips to Austin and back, and two trips north of Houston.
You got a great deal on this truck, even with the transmission issue, and now that's sorted out. Wish we had a good trans shop in Houston like that.... welcome to the forum, from Houston, Texas.
Thank you for the welcoming words! It’s interesting, I think this short bed is longer than the short bed on my 2006 Silverado I had.

I recently learned that there are two different bed lengths on the GMT 800/NBS CCSB. Some of them had 6.5' beds and some had 5.5' beds.

respectfully agree to disagree or the other way around I call what we use to call a short bed a standard bed and the 5.5 and in some case a 5.7 bed a short bed 8 ft long bed or at least ever since the really short imho useless beds came out any but if we are talking be for that time I call the 8 ft long bed standard and the 6.5 bed short on a side note I can not stand the really short beds nut very use able why dose any like them the only time I am okay with a bed under 6.5 ft is if it is a mid size truck or mini/compact truck

I measured mine the other day and it’s the 6.5, which I also consider a short bed. But I will say it is longer than the short bed on the GMT800 4 door 2WD 4.8L 2006 Silverado 1500 I used to have. Longer by several inches. I think when the GMT800 Silverado/Sierra came out the beds shortened in the short bed models. Or it could be the short bed on a GMT400 2500 is just longer than the short bed on a GMT800 1500.

Debating on removing these running boards but my 2 year old son uses them to climb up in the truck and he loves playing in there so I think I’ll keep them for memories sake.

Got the truck back from the performance shop in town! Transmission should take about 200 miles to get used to my driving.

Getting the grill and headlights installed now; so much of the plastic inside the truck has became brittle making this a challenge.

The performance shop had to cut the brackets that were holding the old grill guard in place.

FYI don’t throw away your old grill before you take the screw inserts out of the lower lights.

This was all the confirmation I needed to paint the grill I got at the junkyard black. That looks so clean.
