What a mess the emgine bay is! The entire underside of the truck is covered in grime. There was a huge power steering line leak that the farmer must have let leak for years!! All that fluid attracted dirt, I hated working under it lol!! I should really remove the cab and box, sandblast everything, but a new cab, new box etc etc ! Although I do have a 220 volt industrial pressure washer that I could use, about $50 diesel fuel to suave it all down first. Not sure, would be nice to have it on a lift while I clean it but won’t do that in my garage it would make a disaster of a mess. Make do it at my acreage with a tote of water and my generator to power the pressure washer. Hmmm. Maybe use a tractor to lift it up 4 feet and support it by some 4’ tall Jack stands? I may need Collin’s help lol !

Anyways.

A favourite story of mine was about 6.5 years ago, my eldest boy would have been 3. He called my 2002 Tahoe a “Jeep” because to him it was similar to a Jeep in shape. He loved that truck, did all sorts of work on it with me. Just cute as heck I will dig up photos.

Anyways the Tahoe was stock except a turbocharger on the 5.3, and man did it rip! But stock height.

So he told me “dad I want you to buy a Green Jeep with a lift kit! He would draw pics of the Jeep etc. so I went looking for a Yukon or Tahoe with a lift kit and found one in fort Mac! It was a 2000, SLT with a 10 or 12” lift, still independent suspension but jacked! It could fit larger but it had 38 TSL swampers! No muffler, 5.3, etc. anyways I bought it for $7000 as it needed sone front end work and paint. I towed it back to camp on my flat deck and then I would work on the body work and paint each day after work. By the end of my 10 days of work I had it painted olive drab green!

So I pull home and park the truck and trailer with jacked up 05 GMC pulling the Yukon. I offload the Yukon and wait for my wife and boys to come see all the racket “open headers” on the Yukon. Dried Mud chunks falling off all over the road and driveway. Of course the boys were extatic but wifey was not and she didn’t know about this ridiculous purchase! She exclaimed “You are going to have to LIVE in that “Jeep”. So Shane runs inside and packs a backpack and said “daddy I’m packed up to go live in the Jeep!!!” I almost cried. We did a few day trips with the Yukon, got it stuck and winched out. He was so happy!!

I was looking for pics of the 12” lifted Yukon but I couldn’t find them. Found other cool pics though!

Fixing up my 05 to take it off to my first pipeline job! We swapped the wheels, added a buggy whip and beacon. Painted the whole underside and bumper and off I went to earn the money to build my dream house/garage!

Buicks I’ve sold off. The Skylark has a full roll cage, street legal turbo setup. It was 460 Hp and 470 torque at the wheels in street mode with a Buick 350 but the new owner sold me back that engine and trans and they are in the shelf as spares. 3.42 gears in a $3500 Mosier 12 bolt rear end, billet 2004R, and forged 355 Buick.

The Chevelle was fun! Still have the Yukon, miss the welding rig truck. I loaned it to a “friend” and never got it back. Was a 2wd camper special with 350 Q jet, turbo 400, 3.42 gear. Had rust but was worth restoring. Lastly an old tow truck I had for a while lol! F-150 cab on a F-350 swapped to a 460 with 5 speed 4x4. Ended up making it an off road tow on 44s!

Honestly I would love to however I will never be able to reach your level of perfection! If it came out half as good as yours I would be extremely happy. I probably should remove the cab and box though. And trans and t case lol. I have a headache just thinking about it lol.
