I put a converter in the plow truck along with input/output seals, new GM pan gasket, and filter. All seems well.
I'm just worried about letting the genie out of the bottle, over 200K and I believe it's the original fluid; I supposed a fluid change via the cooler lines would probably yield the best results? I've just always had the mindset of "if it has to come out might as well be for a rebuild" but I think I can get this converter for a screaming deal. Figure I'd do a shift-kit too and run it for a little longer.

Not really a thing with transmissions. The killer is flushing with the machine. Doing a fluid exchange is a good thing. I didn't bother to flush the plow truck as I knew I'd get enough out with the converter. It took north of 3 gallons to fill it back up, I think total capacity is approaching 4 gallons, so it was a nearly complete fluid exchange and should stay clean until I kill it plowing.

I just put a pump bushing, input/output shaft seals, shift selector seal, and shift kit in my 4L85E. While the valve body was out, I also replaced the numerous filters and all the lip seals on the reverse piston, etc. I peaked in the front behind the pump, overdrive clutches and steels looked new, the seals I removed were in fantastic shape, pliable and no cracking. I considered rebuilding the unit, but what I could see was like new. After my little exploration dive, I found no reason to go into it deeper. Even the TCC and AFL filters were near spotless.

Family event. Made it though.
Made it home. The burb ran great. Even thru Chicago traffic with the AC on the Trans temp never broke 185deg. Gas mileage not too bad for 68 mph average.

I did hear the fan kick on quite a few times while at highway speed. Is that normal?

Otherwise I’m quite happy with the ol’ girl.

Needs some decking and one light. Will likely clean and paint the sub-structure before installing new deck boards.

What's that non-Allied thing you're pulling it with?
A vehicle with air conditioning and better fuel mileage. Averaged 13.5 with the 3k trailer running from SE Virginia back into the WV mountains, some interstate mostly rural 55-60 mph. 17-18 on the way down.
