1994 Chevy k1500 OBS 5.7l AT.

The 3 bulbs in my climate control were blown so I got a pack of new ones to replace them. Note that I did not have illumination problems prior. After replacing the bulbs, I managed to lose all illumination on the dash, when the driving lights switch is turned on. With it off, the radio, clock, and digital climate display all lights up. Once I turn on the lights, absolutely nothing lights up. My dash is even completely dark. I had a similar problem a year ago and the driving light switch being replaced fixed it. I do not think it's that again just because I was touching a few other things during the bulb replacement process. I did not ever replace the rheostat. All fuses are good. I suppose I should check the wires coming out of the rheostat for power next. I personally am afraid I shorted something on a circuit board though the process.

Through replacing the climate control bulbs I also:
- disconnected 2 connectors under the ash tray area (was hoping one of them was for the radio unit). Not sure what they ended up being for but I reconnected them. I'll post a pic of them shortly.
- attempted to take apart the radio as a bulbs is also blown in there. After taking the container apart I realized the bulbs were covered with a couple of circuit boards so I reassembled it.

Turns out the 1 connector I unplugged us the radio harness. Could I have shorted something by unplugging without disconnecting the power?

Green and brown have power. Tan does not. Need to find a diagram for the theostat but it seems okay

Update: turns out the issue is either the replacement bulbs or the climate control unit itself. I swapped an old unit in that also had blown bulbs and my illumination came back

The original unit or the replaced bulbs is actually blowing the fuse. Time after time

It's the bulbs. Something is up with them. Old blown bulbs and a fresh fuse bring everything but the controls back to life. They're discontinued by gm as well. These eBay ones aren't cutting it
