As per usual... Too good of a deal to pass up, 4x4, small block.
A bit less usual is that this one didn't need to be trailered home.

Slapped on the old Smittybilt and two Hella 4000s. Gave it a quick wash, didn't bother with the running boards since they're coming off anyway.
More coming soon because I'm physically incapable of leaving anything stock.

285/75/R16 E range BFG ATs, tow mirrors, and a full set of the correct GMT400 center caps.
(not pictured) Kenwood components in the front doors and Escalade front door panels.

I love how the PY0s look on your truck with the 400 caps. Whenever I get a set for Rawhide I'm sure they will look great on him.
Is it just the angle of sunlight, or are there multiple shades of pewter on your truck?

There's multiple shades, but this angle definitely exaggerates the difference. Driver side front door has been replaced (hence the GMC1500 emblem) and the bed has been repainted.
On my Burb, the driver's side second door is off our other 99 Burb, and it's a very slightly different shade of Pewter Metallic. Most people couldn't tell, but since I'm the one who swapped the doors, I can see it.
Back in 1980, Dad bought Mom a brand new '81 Monte Carlo, off the George Pharis Chevy lot ; we saw the car technically before they were supposed to be out, and Mom fell in love with it. The car was two tone, dark brown metallic on top and pewter metallic on the lower body. The front fenders got scratched on the pewter part, and we took it to a friend's collision repair shop to get the fender repainted. He tried for a week, and could get it to match from one angle; then you'd move a bit and it wouldn't match. Was still like that when we sold the car many years later.

Yesterday after work decided to start wiring the mirror lights. Curt 58240 3 to 2 wire tail light converter significantly simplified the wiring vs the old method with diodes and resistors. Signals get spliced in exactly as you'd expect but the brake input is tied to parking lights. All of the wires needed are under the dash and the module tucks nicely behind the kick panel.

Unfortunately these mirrors did not have a separate lead for the signal in the glass and the marker light on the front, so I will need to run a separate wire to each that bypasses the module for the rear signal. As is, both front and rear signals currently act as marker lights.

White lights are tied into reverse circuit and while they are decently bright, the beam pattern is a bit narrow. I might swap them out for the Morimoto flood pattern replacements while I have the mirrors apart.

While I was in the doors, I replaced the drivers interior handle, and replaced the missing rivet in the passenger front interior handle.

Got a few detailed pics of the module you used? I've been debating taking the mirrors apart on both trucks and doing some rewiring to them.

Didn't grab any pics of the module during install, but here is the link for the one I got.

I tore down both mirrors earlier this week, installed the Morimoto reverse lights, and ran a separate wire for the signals in the glass. Everything now works as it should.

Today I installed 75w ballasts for the Hellas and replaced the faded marker light bulbs. The Hellas are tied into the high beams until I figure out permanent locations for all of the switches I'll be installing over the next few months.
