I’ve got a fiberglass bed cover that is red. I want to paint it white. Question: is gray primer sufficient for this color change? I don’t want the red to bleed through. Should I do brown primer then gray over that?

As long as you don't break through the grey primer, everything should be fine.

That's why after final sanding, I'd use some grey sealer.

Hell, you could just buy some white primer if you wanted to (though grey is the factory primer color).
