Wonder if the currently installed efans are wired to activate when the AC is switched on, or is the temp probe the only thing controlling the fans.
Yes the temp switch is the only thing that makes them cut on, Besides the ignition switch.

My efans are activated anytime the AC compressor is running, pretty sure most folks wire em up that way.

The opening posts in these threads all mention the AC control.

The flex a lite controller I am using has a temp probe for the radiator and is also wired to activate whenever my AC compressor is active.

Might want to think about getting your existing fans wired to come on with the AC before installing bigger better / more fans.

Maybe you could temporarily wire the fans ON, and then run the AC at idle and see if your engine temps get / stay better, i dunno.

Think your trying to draw the AC condenser heat away before the engine temps get too high, probably makes the AC run better / not as hard as well.

I am no expert though.

Best of luck.

I'm in Abu Dhabi (which gets a bit warm!) and have the standard mechanical fan on my 96 Tahoe. It keeps the engine nice and cool but I put a manually switched pusher fan on the front of the condenser for when I go off-road in the desert. However, while the aim was to improve engine cooling, I've found that the biggest effect seems to be improved A/C performance

Ah, got you. I did wonder if it was something like that. There's actually quite a lot of them around here - American trucks are popular and of course we don't have too much of a rust problem here.

Spare parts can be an issue at times but www.rockauto.com is great if you can stomach shipping costs on the heavier items

In the later years 400/ obs GM installed the aux fan to improve condenser effectiveness, with AC on, or activated by high temp switch in head rt. Head.
