I recently installed 4 new parking/turn signal LED bulbs (1147 with built-in resistors). The driver's side functions perfectly normal. The passenger's side however does not. One of the 2 bulbs on the passenger side is bright all the time (as if it is stuck flashing "on). I tried flipping the LED bulb around in the socket, and that did fix this issue however now it hyper-flashes.

This seems weird to me... since in one orientation it is not lighting properly, and in the other orientation is IS lighting properly, but is hyper-flashing. Any ideas? The other bulb on the same side functions perfectly fine, and both bulbs on the driver's side also function perfectly.

UPDATE: I swapped 2 of the bulbs and have confirmed that the issue stays linked to a specific socket, it does not move with the bulb.

Hyper-flashing is normal with LEDs. It's a feature in the flasher relay to tell you if a bulb is burnt out. It measures current draw, if the current draw is too low it'll hyper-flash (caused by a burnt out bulb or low current draw LEDs).

You have two options: 1, install a set of "load equalizer" resisters to increase the current draw or 2, replace your flasher relay with the LED style one that doesn't require a strong current to flash.
I'd recommend just swapping the relay. No point in drawing extra current if it's not needed.
One thing to note: if you end up swapping every turn signal bulb to LED, including the brake lights, you MAY need to install resistors regardless of if you have the LED relay or not. I had issues with the flashers triggering the dimming function on my dash and radio with all LEDs but no resistors.

Swap the LED back to were it operates normal (bright/dim).

The "load equalizer" resistors and the LED flasher relay can be found at any auto-parts store.

I’ll give the relay a try, thanks! These 1147 LEDs have the resistors built into a connect ballast so I’m surprised I’m having this issue. I’ve also used these exact LEDs on 3 or 4 other cars/trucks with 0 issues. These are them: https://a.co/d/90PasT0

I’d try a relay meant for LEDs. I bought Morimoto LEDs with resistors built in. Still put the LED flasher in.

Interesting. I've never seen ones with the resistors built in

Yeah, I’ve had great luck with them in the past which is why I was surprised to have issues here. I’m going to swing by AutoZone tomorrow to snag the EP29 LED flasher relay and will report back. Would be a nice easy fix if that’s all it takes!

I just recently installed the LED turn signal assembly from LMC Truck on my 1990 C1500 and I'm experiencing a similar problem where the passenger side flashes quickly with the headlights on, but flashes normal with them off. Would an LED flasher relay be a potential fix for this?
