What did you do to fix the parenthasis error? I am getting the same. Any updates on getting the cmp retard checked? I can't seem to get the correct PID to work.
this is one i found here somewhere

Torque - go to Settings:
Manage extra PIDs/Sensors
Add custom PID

OBD2 Mode and PID: 221301
Long Name: Cam Position Retard Offset
Short name: CMPRET
Minimum value: -100
Maximum value: 100
Scale factor: x1
Unit type: degrees
Equation: ((Signed(A)*256)+B)*0.024
OBD header to use: 6C10F1
Diagnostic start command: <blank>
Diagnostic stop command: <blank>
Overrides PID: Does not override any PID

and here is another and posting the whole thing so nobody tries to claim plagarïsm,,,,

I recently got the Torque Pro app and was able to read CMP Offset with it. It takes a little work, so I figured I would post it here(found it on another Forum). Others can add tips and tricks that help.
cmp retard add to torqe pro
To add CMP offset PID follow these steps:
Settings
Manage Extra PIDs/Sensors
Hamburger Button at Top
Add Custom PID
OBD2 Mode: "221301"
Long Name: "Cam Retard Offset" name is really whatever you want
Short Name: "CMP Offset" again whatever you want here
Minimum Value: "-100"
Maximum Value: "100"
Scale Factor: x1
Unit Type: "Degrees"
Equation: " ((signed(A)*256+b)*0.063) "
OBD Header: "6C10F1"
Does not override any PID
OK

Now you can add that readout on your display pages.

I gogled cmp info and found this site.. and lots of wortless hour long you tubs,,, that dd not watch...
I am in the mindset,, that unless its heart surgury and takes that long to explain,,, it's bull crap.
thought i had a third but dont seeit....

hope this helps all..

I have been through this a bunch of times and cannot get it to work on Torque Pro. Mine is a 97. Anyone get this working on a 97?

Yes I'm also having trouble getting the CMP Pid to work with my 97. Torque Pro gives me this response# 7F2213000011?

Did ya'll ever sort this problem out? I've got a 96 that I need to set cam offset retard on and I'm not having any luck either.

I switched to Dashcommand and it works great. You need to buy the GM pid option for the cmp to work. It's well worth the extra $10.

Be gentle with me please - I'm a clueless neophyte here.
I've been offered an i-Phone (SE 16gb model a1723) which (for reasons too tedious to relay) I have no intention of obtaining a SIM card for. Instead, I'd like to use it for Torque (or Torque Pro?) but it seems that Torque only works with Android OS and i-Phone is not Android. Is that correct?

Also, to make it work - if it will work - I need to (in the absence of a SIM) download Torque to a Windows 8.1 lap-top then upload it to the i-Phone. Is this possible?

Correct.

As stated, not going to work due to Torque Pro only running on Android OS. You might be able to do this with DashCommand though, which is an app very similar to Torque Pro that also runs on iOS. I have almost no experience with Apple devices so I'm no help on the specific process though.
