So If memory serves me right I went down this rabbit hole a few years back to find out this exact question. Circa 2009ish at a junkyard I DID TOUCH AND FEEL an ALL METAL GRILL. the only thing that wasnt metal was the vent slots and the emblem it was a chevy grille about 1996-1999 type with the bolstered horizontal lines. I remember seeing the chrome paint chipping off of it and thought it was odd. to this day I have yet to see another, and I convinced myself I must have been mistaken. the only reason I didn't take it at the time was:
1. was still early in my GMT400 knowledge no idea they didnt exist factory.
2. didnt need it I was there to get a new Trans cooler as I was a poor just out of HS kid+
To this day I still wonder If I had dreamt that ****. I cleary didnt dream that trip because I remember it was on a black truck
Are you saying this was a GM Chevy grille or aftermarket?it was a chevy grille about 1996-1999 type
I'll go out on a limb and respectfully say you were mistaken. The chrome will chip off the plastic grilles, so don't let that part of it convince you. Especially on the older OEM grilles, the chrome plating is thicker than you might think it is, and when it cracked/peeled, it was almost like tearing apart a thin aluminum can.So If memory serves me right I went down this rabbit hole a few years back to find out this exact question.
