Unless I somehow missed it, the material type is not specified (i do miss things quite often). People talk about trying different things but not what the actual material is. But i like your idea of a heavy duty inner tube.

For me, by the time you buy materials, special tooling to cut maybe and your labor and then compared to what you’ll end up with, I’d probably just get the ones in link above. Cokeman’s were $38.00 4 years ago/plus shipping.

I looked at buying a sheet and price with shipping was about $48.00. I couldn’t find it any cheaper. So, for $48, your labor and result, to me it doesn’t seem worthwhile.
