Hey fellas, just trying to confirm if what I'm doing is correct. I have an 89 K3500 that won't quite go into park. I only see one adjustment point right next to the steering column (pictures attached). I'm assuming I just loosen that bolt and move the linkage rod up slightly?

Thanks,
-J

That is correct. First though, be sure that it's not slop in another area that is causing it to seem out of adjustment. If you have a tilt column and it's gotten loose at the tilt knuckle, that may be the issue - and also check the shift mechanism under the truck by the frame where it may have bushing wear.

Like someotherguy suggested, make sure everything else is ok first. Check transmission mount too. If I remember correctly, the factory adjustment procedure is to loosen the trunnion bolt and place gear selector in neutral. Then go under truck, put transmission in neutral, and tighten bolt. By synchronizing neutral, any play should be split evenly across the ranges instead of possibly stacking up in one direction.
