any place to get my 0/1 gauge wire to my battery besies drilling a hole through my fire wall? i have 1 day or so before i get some grommets but i was hopping to not have to drill a hole

I prefer bulkhead terminals. A grommet will wear through with age and then your 0/1 cable can wear through and spark a fire. Bulkhead connectors are the professional solution.

Makes sense. Would you use some sort of boot to cover the exposed terminal? I'd be concerned about the possibility of an accidental short by way of a screwdriver or wrench.

Hmmm... I wonder, look up GM # 92291689, wonder if that might work. Or, possibly the cover on the alternator hot wire.
