Serial to usb adapter?

No it looks just like the "serial" cable but it is a wider trapezoid with more pins, no idea the name.

You've got a lap top great. They make a gazillion adapters for obd port to any computer port now . Try what these guys have to offer I bought the " obd1 to obd2 " adapter from them. They have the links to laptop programs also, might be good to drill into your problem. Just a thought.

Update MAP sensor did not help, even threw code 34 with new AC Delco, figures it said made in China all over it..

Cable wise All of that is very helpful but I was able to figure it out. The cable I have is called a parallel cable, they sell parallel cable to usb adapters for around 6 bucks, much cheaper than a OBD1 cable from online.
