Squarebody leaf swap

[1998 K1500 Bubbles]

I have a 1998 k1500 and a 1977 c10.
The k1500 has 3+1 leaf springs in it but my c10 is a heavy half ton and has c20 rear leafs in it. I tow the square around with the k1500 and I want my square to have a smooth ride. Could I just swap the leaf springs between the two trucks?

I do not know if they will work or not there are 4/1 5/1 6/1 and 7/1 leaf packs for 400s and they all interchange as long as it is a pick up tahoe suburban leaf packs are not the same and the bigest they have for them are 5/1 pack on the 2500 suburban square body leafs are different from 400 leafs as far as I know also if I remember right not all square body leafs are the same lenth there are ones for 10 series there are 2 for 20 series depending on gvwr I think lite 20s are same as 10 in lenth but heavyer heavy 20 are longer and are same lenth as 30 series but not as heavy duty I use to now what they were back when we had a few square bodies but they are long gone and I have forgot most of what I knew and had learned about them if you are going to upgrade your leaf spring I would look into geting rid of that 10 bolt rear as well and swap in a 6 lug 14 bolt

My square is pretty much a c10 with c20 rear suspension and axle but with 5 lug axles. It has the heavier 12 bolt rear axle I stead of the 10 bolt.

How many leaves are in the pack? Take some out, try 4/1 and see how that is....

if the center pin is in the same spot on both sets of leafs you might be able to take them apart and make your own leaf packs I think all 400 leafs are 52'' with the pin in the middle I forget the the square bodies are I think that the pins are offset but do not remember what I do remember is that if you a 4x4 square body the front leafs are all 47'' but that will not help you

all right 10 series and some 20 series are 52'' but I think they are offset heavy 20 and 30 series are 56''

1/2 is 52" center pin. Some 1/2, 3/4 an 1 tons use 56", offset pin. From front hanger to pin is 26" for both. GMT-400 use 64" pin is centered.

Well it won’t work, my square has 56 inch leaf springs. I hoped I could use them because it’s 7 leaf’s plus an overload spring on my square.
