Rear window locking assembly in tailgate of 98 Suburban

I'm having trouble closing the rear window to the tailgate on my 98 Suburban. I have to do a hard slam to get this to lock and was looking for a solution without hunting for a replacement assembly that sits in the tailgate. Is there an alignment or adjustment solution? Just looking for a nice soft close again. Pictures of window locking pin and tailgate assembly attached. Thanks for any tips on fixing this.

Tried that many times. Its some type of alignment issue or lock assembly.

Drop the hatch and take a pic so we can see the alignment in the closed position - top, bottom and size to side.

Its barely visible when almost closed.

Mine did the same, the latch plate is adjustable on the top gate. Lower the glass and see where it’s making contact and adjust it accordingly

Latch plate adjustment worked. Appreciate all the feedback.
