Looking for info, long bed to short bed conversion

We are going to be building a CCSB 2wd. I'm just in the collecting parts stage and I found almost exactly what we wanted for a frame donor. We found an 89 extended cab, light duty C2500 but it is a long bed. I looked for threads about bed swap/conversion and have come up empty.

Can someone point me to threads or chime in on the swap?

I appreciate that!
Now he needs to have his insurance company total it. A tree fell on it and it messed up the doors, dented the extended cab, slightly pushed the a pillar down, shattered the windshield and obviously the roof is wrinkled. The sad thing is that the truck only has 80k on it. I'm trying to work a trade with him.
