Battery terminal

1So I have the Infamous GM terminaIs. The negative terminal has a poor connection. I have to sometimes go under the hood to move the cable to start the truck. So I decided to add a washer behind the terminal, to help keep it tight. I don't believe it will cause any issues. But I'm looking for another perspective on it. Because I could be wrong.

I am not understanding exactly what you are taking about. Picture? Lead and steel are close in resistance with lead being 8.35% of copper and steel at 10%.

I've done this before with good results. You run the stud down first as far as it will go then another 1/4 turn to seat it. Then the batt cable and the rest of the stack.

Something like this and a ring terminal on the cable.

Those are good, then toss a battery disconnect on and you don’t ever have to screw with until battery replacement.

i did that (with a group 34/78) before I added the "Big 3" so, I could use the original cables until I got around to replacing them all. But, it wasn't cheap!

Two 3/8-16 bolts and nuts, and two 3/8 washers.

Clean the corrosion from BOTH SIDES of the battery cable terminals, AND the battery terminals.

I had that problem multiple times. Eventualy changed the cable connectors to top post style, no problems since
