A/C 97 c2500 LP switch bypass

This may be a stupid question, but…


If I paperclip bypass the low pressure switch and the compressor clutch kicks on but still doesn’t blow cold… does that mean the switch is bad, the system is low, or potentially both?

It worked before it sat for 2 years.

Most likely a low charge level. Put some gauges on it and check the system pressures before you try it again. You can do some real damage to the compressor running it with low/no refrigerant.

^^^ As alluded to...the low-pressure cutout switch exists to protect the compressor when the charge is too low to carry the oil that lubes the compressor.
