Brown coolant has got to GO. Be sure to pull the block drains--a drain plug on one side, the knock sensor on the other. Be sure to torque the knock sensor to spec when it's re-installed.

Not uncommon for there to be so much sediment in the bottom of the block, that nothing comes out when the drain plug/knock sensor is removed. May have to poke an awl or screwdriver into the hole to break-up the crust of sediment.

I use a Prestone (or generic) flush 'n' fill kit.

Yeah, skip the valves and sensors for now unless they are throwing codes and known defective. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, all the fluids, all the filters, and all the grease points are the first things I do. Other parts get replaced on an as-needed basis.
