    +25% LTFTs

called around today, apparently most of the stealerships in the area don't work on our "old" cars anymore. Found a GMC dealer that does, got an appt to get the distributor set. Gotta love 1hr labor for a 5 minutes job, a few more times and I might as well buy the autoxray scanner that reads the...

    +25% LTFTs

Did not get the distributor reset correctly. I told myself I'd get it done but forgot. Would being off a few degrees timing cause such a swing in fueling though? MAF is clean

    +25% LTFTs

97 Surburban, 198k, replaced heads with stock L31's recently due to a crack, did full tune up at the same time. All filters, fluids, spark plug, distributor, rotor, wires, etc. I'm getting +20%-25% (25% is the max for LTFT) about everywhere for both banks. I checked for vacuum leaks and didn't...

    Does post-cat O2 sensors effect open/closed loop?

As the title states. I'm throwing p0154 and p0161. Bank 2 sensor 1 and 2 basically. That bank cat is gutted, so I'm expecting it to throw a post-cat code, but just making sure that any "sensor 2" codes shouldn't effect whether the car is in open or closed loop right? It's currently showing open...

quick disconncet on rear heater core

The rear heater hose is a special line though. Goes from a metal pipe into a rubber pipe back to the metal connector that's pictured. I could just cut the line and replace with a rubber hose, in fact, I think that might be less work than playing with the stupid quick disconnect.

quick disconncet on rear heater core

Its the rear heater core on a suburban. I usually just use pliers and a lot of force but I wasn't sure if there's a proper tool to remove that will make it easier. i always end up breaking them too.

quick disconncet on rear heater core

Just wondering how these are supposed to be removed. Do I use something like this: Here's a picture of what it looks like. I think it's just like the quick disconnect that's on the intake manifold. not my photo.

    Sway bar endlink

Just want to check if the 2wd and 4wd uses a different length bolt or not. I have a 97 4wd Suburban and I bought the cheapest pair at advance auto (like 6$ for 1), think it's a rebranded Moog 8265 part. Bolt length was 9" and the spacer was 4.5", just like the bolt that was on the car. However...

    Heater hose part number

Picture is from my '97 Suburban, it's part of the line that carries coolant from the water pump to the heater core, not sure if the trucks use the same piece or not. It goes from atop the water pump, behind the alternator, and connects to a rubber 5/8" heater hose near the valve cover. Anyone...

Problems after HG install. (lean codes)

Oh I feel stupid. I had that little bracket that holds the lines into the spider flipped upside down, so it wasn't effectively holding the fuel lines. My heater hose got a pin size hole today right by the crimp to the quick connect fitting. I was thinking about changing it to a regular barb...

suburban 2nd row seat sliding broken

97 Suburban with the 60/40 split second row seat. The seat is supposed to slide foward to allow access to the third row, but something in the mechanism seems to be broken so that the lever doesn't pull on the slide lock. Can someone take apart the side cover (2 philips screw) and take a picture...

Weak HVAC air from head position

Did that a while back, didn't help much. It's only the head position that blows weak, the feet and defrost are fine.

Weak HVAC air from head position

Front upper air vents have weak air flow when I've got the blower maxed. It's not a blend door issue because there's no air coming out of the defrost or feet vents when I've got it on head only, and vice versa when it's switched to defrost or feet only. Almost seems like something is clogged...

    L31 head gasket job tips?

Thanks. All in all wasn't too bad, pretty much just take things off until you have the room to pull the heads. Took a pic to help out those doing the same job or a intake gasket. These are the bolts you need to remove to move the power steering bracket. My lower two were caked in gunk and I...

Problems after HG install. (lean codes)

New FPR in along with new plenum gaskets. Replaced the MAP sensor with one I had laying around from a 3.8 Camaro. No longer at +40% fuel trims, so I guess it's "fixed". But it's still around 15%. Not throwing a code, so I'll just leave it as is for now. Also need to gut my cats, still throwing...

Problems after HG install. (lean codes)

Too late, cut off the opposite blade. Didn't notice anything unusual and the airflow seemed to be the same. Broke the MAP sensor as I was removing the plenum again in my haste. And the fuel spider gasket is all stretched now so I have to buy another plenum gasket set since they don't sell it...

Problems after HG install. (lean codes)

There are no lines under the plenum... the fuel lines plug into the spider above the plenum. I don't see/smell any leaks throughout the system either. Actually going to try changing just the regulator and see what happens. My thinking is that if a poppet valve is causing the pressure drop, then...

Problems after HG install. (lean codes)

Changed filter and picked up fuel pressure gauge. i think the fuel spider is my problem. got 54 PSI at idle, drops to ~25psi within 5 minutes of turning off the car. Guess i'm in for a $300 replacement spider. At least I'll get the updated injector design.

Problems after HG install. (lean codes)

I can read fuel trims. I've got HPTuners, but it's only able to do basic OBD2 operations with the 96-97 trucks. No tuning or advance sensor readings (like the cam offset) because the PCM is apparently drastically different from the 98+ models. the LTFT are both maxed at 25%, which sets the...

Problems after HG install. (lean codes)

P0171 and P0174. Bank 1 & 2 lean. LTFTs are maxxed at +25% and the STFTs are ranging from 15-20%. Just installed stock replacement heads on a suburban that's been sitting for a while. It's also throwing a P1345 code from the distributor not being set dead on. When I first started it a few days...
