Rear brake driver side drum doesn't sit flush

I have a 95 Chevy k2500 14 bolt I replaced the shoes on both side the rear passenger side has no issues. I replaced the drum on my driver's side because the old drum is scored and thinner, I bought a new one and can't get the drum to seat fully on the top half even when spun the lower 2 lugs on the drum wobble and seat fully. Old one does the same but is worn down and doesn't look as drastic of a gap at the top. What would cause this, bearing or?

Pictures? And is it a semi or full floater? That doesn't sound good at all

Definitely a semi float. That could be just the casting of the backing plate. Something on the end of the axle not allowing the drum to lay flat. Flip the drum over and install and see if the hub center and the hole center are flat and also when installed correctly. May also be the drum casting as well. Does it do the same on the passenger side? Lastly, you replaced one drum instead of two?

Are you saying it doesn't lay flat on axle shaft after you slide it over the lug studs, rocking on the flat surface?
If your worried about the flange distance to the backing plate. Place the drum open side up. Lay some sort of straight edge across drum diameter. Use a small scale to measure the inner hub to outer flange surface. Like a T. Measure both.
It's not the flange to backing distance that's critical, it the brake application surface in the same proximate position. If your not happy with it , exchange it. It's not an fit there's probably a lot of latitude in the flange to backing plate spec.
