I'd be looking for a Treasure Yard '96, and grab the parts as needed.

I'm thinking the Cruise module and cable, wire harness, and the proper multifunction switch/turn signal lever. Gotta get the right combination of cruise control and wiper delay, and given the problems with the wire harness attached to that switch, you should probably get that part "new". But I've never looked at a '96. I'm making the assumption that it's similar to my '88 K1500 5.7L, and it may not be.

Since the "turn signal lever" also controls the wiper delay, you may want to upgrade the wiper system if you don't already have the delay style.

Can't speak for a 96 but on a 99 base model was wired for it all I had to do was install cruise module to firewall, install new multifunction switch, and put a fuse in

No cruise? What, fleet truck , service truck, former govt vehicle?

It is a W/T 1500, I didn't even think to look for a Cruise Control when I bought the truck because I am just so use to them coming with it .

If that is all I have to do to this '96 then I can handle it myself, But if I had to source a new computer and wiring harness I would just go without .

Here is what the engine bay looks like on my truck, it is the 4.3L. Do any of you guys have any pictures of your 4.3's so I can see how the unit is mounted and the cables are ran ?

I , it , why would they have not have cruise when it's hot everything else? That's .nuts...
Well , I'd get out the service manual look through cruise wire diagram and routing see if its there just taped up. If not then decide next step.

does anybody know the correct part number for the multi-switch and the Cruise Control unit ? And what years are interchangable with the 1996 ?
