Well there I was with my newly delivered packages from CM(pins and bushings) and LMC(light mod) and I just had to do it. So I got all my tools together and put in the light mod and wow! That is a hell of a difference. I was doubtful at first but no longer. I was surprised at how simple it was!

Just picked up my rig. The clear coat and paint ain't pretty...but the sheet metal is straight!

Toying with the idea of restoration. Could be a years-long project, but would love to get feedback on "paint/no paint," ideas on interior improvements, or whatever your favorite mod is

^^^ What he says! I'd just do a 2/4 drop and call it good! All the faded paint and peeling clear coat screams "I'm a survivor!!". Something all the newer trucks can't/won't lay claim to. I have a similar '89, though it's LS swapped. I refuse to fix the dents and poor paint. The truck wears them all proudly

Totally stock 1988 C1500 Silverado, 2WD, 225,000 miles, driven daily, third owner. My wife says I need to paint it; I refuse.

Nothing quite as much fun as driving different! If that truck is as straight as it looks, I would be tempted
to gently wet-sand it, clear coat it, wet-sand that, and then buff it to a mirror finish. Then maybe add a
stock looking set of color matched steelies and the same tires? (Matching Black, light Gray, or Burnt Orange?
I don't know, I could make a case for each. :0)

She already seems to have a good stance. I would refer to it as Faded Glory. :0)

For what it's worth, a couple of years ago I had an old veteran follow me home after earning it's keep for a local
roofing contractor for many years. Couldn't help myself, it just tripped my trigger, first truck I've owned in 40
years. And if you are interested in how an old bruiser can look after a wet-sanding & buff, here's a peek.
('99 C2500 in the original Indigo Blue metallic)

That's gotta be a lot of fun to tool around in. And welcome aboard to the GMT400 forum.
You have discovered a group of like minded old truck enthusiasts.

Enjoy -

Finally a win.. 1st place best in its class. Got lucky where they didn't put it in with a bunch of $60k $80k builds. Link to Show pics..... Not sure if the show pics link is ok to post? If not Admins or Mods. delete link... https://photos.app.goo.gl/g8uMkaR9Qvs3oKg5A
