I’ll need to get your some photos today , I believe they’re forged. The stud/ball popped out.
Do the BJ and LCA bushings and move on. Source a used one if necessary. If the Astro arms were the same they would have the same part# as gmt400 ones just like every other single part that crosses models. You're trying to make a rather straightforward situation more complex with wrong stuff. I don't know if was the one referenced, but I read through a thread with astro arms that would not take an alignment. For all his efforts, the $$, and time spent, he accomplished nothing.

If the ball stud popped out of the ball joint housing, replacing the ball joint should be a straightforward procedure. I bet there's nothing wrong with the control arm aside from the bushings (but it would be wise to inspect it.)

The Astro LCAs are a direct replacement up to 1994. In 95 they used a press in ball joint. The Astro arms can still be used in newer truck if you either get older knuckles or grind some of the steering stops. The Astro has a different part number because it has drilled and tapped holes on the bottom side for brush shields. Please see my threads on them. I have done my 1991 K1500 and my neighbors truck with absolutely no issues.

The Astro arms have a different PN because of the drilled and tapped holes in the bottom for brush guards. See the pics I posted in the original thread.

Direct replacement as long a you get to grinding.... I have to see an alignment sheet with more than caster, camber , and toe on it before I buy in.

Well all I can do is tell others what worked for me. Hoping to help others out of the same problem I had. If you don’t want to buy in that’s completely up to you. It’s your truck do as you please. I do have an alignment report from Big O before and after. I guess I could look for it if I get a chance this weekend.
